We can create an intimate gathering for groups as small as 25, or design a sit-down meal for 200. At our maximum capacity, we can host events such as a cocktail party reception for up to 250 people. Share your vision with us—and we will design an event set-up that’s perfect.    

Do we have to use one of your pre-approved caterers?       

Yes. We have researched and interviewed numerous caterers, creating an all-star list that meets our high standards. While our list may seem short, we've been hosting events for more than 10 years and know what it takes to make your wedding day run smoothly. A great caterer can make your event truly memorable, and our pre-approved caterers will work hard to ensure you have a fantastic menu and impeccable service.

We do not charge caterers a commission to be included on our list, which helps them minimize costs and bring you the highest-quality food and beverages. Week after week, we work with these service providers to create memorable events. We trust them to take excellent care of you and your guests. Plus: our pre-approved caterers are all dedicated to making events more sustainable—a high priority for all of us at Greenhouse Loft.           


2019-2020 rental fees:

  • Weekday daytime event cost $2,500

  • Evening events Monday through Thursday cost $4,500

  • Friday and Sunday events cost $5,900

  • Saturday events cost $7,200

Our rentals are based on 10 hours from set-up to breakdown; for weddings and parties this usually allows 6 hours of event time. When applicable, special holiday rates apply. If you are a tenant of the Green Exchange, a non-profit organization, or looking to book an event for less than a 10 hour rental, please contact us for special rates.    


  • A dedicated Greenhouse Loft Venue Manager that will work with you and your vendors personally leading up to and on the day of your event.

  • A final walk-through led by your Greenhouse Loft Event Manager, Caterer and Wedding Planner, if you are using one. Approximately one month before your event, we’ll review all the details of your wedding day and build out a timeline. This includes arrival, set-up, and breakdown times for all vendors, as well as timing for introductions, speeches, dinner/dessert service and other special moments. The walk-through gives you the chance to visualize every detail, finalize a floor plan, confirm any add-ons and coordinate with your vendors so you feel at ease and excited for your wedding day.

  • Use of our loft space filled with natural light and the adjacent 8,000 square foot outdoor garden.

  • Venue Manager assistant and Security on-site for the duration of your event.

  • A collection of restored mid-century modern furniture - colorful and comfortable!

  • 25 - 48 inch square tables (each seating up to 8 guests)

  • 10 - Highboy tables

  • 7 - 6 foot tables

  • 4 - 8 foot tables

  • 3 - 4 foot tables

  • 2 - 60 inch serpentine tables (bar)

  • 8 - 36 inch round cabaret tables (each seating up to 4 guests)

  • 200 - Natural wood folding chairs w/pad (applies to new bookings only)

  • Vintage self-service coat racks and wooden hangers

  • Personalized directional signage

  • Built in drapery for dividing the event space

  • Multiple stall men's and women’s restrooms and a family restroom, all facilities accessible


Greenhouse Loft offers both a Venue Manager and an Assistant Venue Manager at every event.  Most people find this to be very helpful leading up to the event and the day of.  The Venue Manager roles are many, but should not be mistaken for a wedding coordinator or planner.  Some couples find it helpful to have someone dedicated to them during the event.  Greenhouse Loft venue manager is more of a liaison between the couple and the vendors. If you are looking to hire a wedding planner or day of planner, we have some great planners listed on our preferred vendors list.


  • Schedules and leads final walk through one month before wedding with couple & caterer. If there is not a planner we will help create a timeline, agree on a floor plan, and discuss drop-off and pick-up timing

  • Creates final details sheet with timeline and floor plan to be shared with all vendors prior to wedding. Vendors are responsible for following the timeline and working with the other vendors

  • Work alongside the GHL assistant venue manager to set-up the space (placing candles on ledges, setting out signage, making sure all tables, chairs, and lounge furniture needed for event is in loft prior to caterer arrival (per agreed upon floor plan), check to make sure all trash, recycling, and compost bins are in garbage room and kitchen is clean and ready for caterers, adjust lighting and temperature)

  • Ensure all of couple’s personal decor items (dropped off on Friday) are in wedding suite and notify catering manager upon arrival so they can assign staff to set-up

  • Ensure couple’s alcohol is out in the loft space for bartenders to set up bars

  • Check in with each vendor as they arrive so they know where to set-up per the floor plan

  • Can do one installation with 2 points of contact

  • Ensure that the ceremony space is set-up per the floor plan previously decided upon and ready to open for guests to find seats 30 minutes prior to ceremony

  • Chat with DJ/ceremony musicians about the songs for the processional (i.e. song for family, song for wedding party, song for bride) and coordinate cues for music changes if needed

  • Ensure ceremony starts on-time (if couple is ready to go and most guests are present)

  • Lights candles on tables and ensures caterer ‘flips’ the room from ceremony to reception layout during cocktail hour, so that the reception can begin on time

  • Checks in on reception periodically (every 15-30 minutes) to ensure that everything is running smoothly throughout the evening (speeches, dinner & dessert service, dancing)

  • Adjusts (lower) lighting after first dances to set the mood a bit darker for the rest of dancing

  • Ensures DJ/band finishes playing music at time agreed to on schedule

  • Ensures that all guests have departed loft space after music has ended and bar has been closed for 30 minutes

  • Work alongside the GHL assistant venue manager to clean-up the space

  • Ensures couple’s leftover alcohol is sorted and secured for a later pickup.


Aside from Greenhouse Loft’s natural beauty, event decor is not provided but can be rented or brought in. This would include things like table linens, glassware, flatware (if you decide not to use eco-friendly disposable silverware), plates, and tables beyond what we have in-house, etc.

We do offer an optional Candle Package, which includes votives throughout the room on all tables and window sills for an additional $325.00  


The rental rate is straightforward, with no additional taxes or hidden costs. However, we do offer a few optional add-ons:

  • Outdoor self-parking lot (after 6pm on weekdays), 30 spaces, $250

  • Indoor self-parking lot (after 6pm on weekdays), 50 spaces with attendant, $450

  • Lobby space available for indoor cocktail hour, $250

  • Candle package (includes 200+ soy candles lit and placed by our staff, lining the window ledges and tables), $325

  • Overtime, $300 per hour, billed only by the hour

CAN you help us locate other service providers for the wedding, like videographers, florists, djs, or musicians?

Yes! We have curated a solid roster of amazing local talent for you to check out that we would recommend working with.


Yes, we are BYOB.  You can purchase your alcohol through an outside source, we highly recommend Binny’s.  A Binny’s sales representative will work with you on choices and quantities, arrange for a drop-off and pick-up any can even refund your account for any unopened and previously un-chilled alcohol.  Feel free to reach out to Binnys and tell them Greenhouse Loft sent you! Most of our caterers also provide great alcohol packages as well, so make sure to check them out as well!


Our address is 2545 W. Diversey Avenue, Chicago, IL 60647.  Greenhouse Loft is located on the second floor of the Green Exchange building, conveniently located in the Logan Square neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois.

By car:

We’re 1 block east of the I-90/94 Diversey exit. When driving southeast (toward downtown) it’s exit 46A, when driving northwest (away from the downtown high rises) it’s exit 46B. We’re approximately 10 minutes from downtown via car, not accounting for traffic.

By public transit:

  • Train - the Logan Square blue line station is a 12 minute walk from us

  • Bus - #76 Diversey bus stops in front of the building at Diversey/Rockwell

  • Bus - #49 Western bus stops 3 blocks east of us at Western/Diversey

  • Divvy Bike Sharing - Nearest docking station is an 8 minute walk east of us at the corner of Logan Blvd and Elston. www.divvybikes.com

By air:

Chicago is serviced by O’Hare International Airport (ORD) which is 12 miles from Greenhouse Loft, and Midway International Airport (MDW) which is 15 miles from Greenhouse Loft.

can i have my wedding rehearsal at greenhouse loft?

We cannot accommodate rehearsals due to photo shoots and meetings that are often booked last-minute in our space. While your venue manager will be here on-site during your wedding day and we will help couples get down the aisle, most couples end up doing their rehearsals off-site. We'll also talk through these details in the final walk-through.

do we need to take out an insurance policy to have our wedding in your loft? Do any of our vendors need to have insurance?

We do not require couples to take out a day-of insurance policy. We do require all bands or DJs who perform in our space to have insurance. If you'd like to work with a DJ or band who is not insured, they can easily take out a reasonable day-of insurance policy for your wedding date at Event Helper.com.

is there a space for me to get ready for my wedding on-site?

While we do have a small room in the back of our loft for the wedding party's use throughout the evening, we don't have enough space for couples to get ready on-site. We ask that the wedding party arrives on-site already dressed in their wedding attire. Many couples have fun getting ready at their home or in a hotel together with family and friends.

when should we arrive at greenhouse loft with our bridal party on the day of our wedding?

We recommend that couples arrive at the loft about an hour before the wedding ceremony is to start, as vendors will be busy setting up the space prior to that time. When you arrive, you're welcome to lounge and relax in the bridal suite until the ceremony is ready to begin.

Your 10 hour rental allows for 2 hours of on-site set-up, followed by a half an hour of opening up the space and allowing guests to find their seats before the ceremony begins.

a date that i was interested in booking seems to be unavailable on your website. do you have the space to host two weddings in one day?

We only book one event per day at our loft. Please contact us for current availability.

we definitely want our wedding to have an indoor-outdoor feel, and the garden adjacent to your loft looks beautiful! is there an additional cost to rent the garden? what can the garden be used for?

Use of the garden is included in our rental at no additional cost. The garden can accommodate outdoor ceremonies for up to 200, and cocktail hour for up to 250 guests. Weather permitting, the garden will be unlocked all throughout the evening and can be enjoyed by your guests throughout your event.

do you have an indoor option for cocktail hour if we can't use the garden due to inclement weather?

In the event that we are unable to utilize the garden for cocktail hour, we have the ability to rent the second floor lobby of our building for cocktail hour for an additional $250.  This allows for the loft to be transitioned from the ceremony to your reception layout.
