Cara & CJ

"Originally, we were planning to do a destination wedding and get married on a beach in Florida, Hawaii or even Thailand. I am in nursing school, and once I got my schedule we realized that I had very minimal time off. So, we decided to get married quick, before school took over our calendar. We planned the wedding in 4 months! Greenhouse Loft caught our eyes right away because of the outdoor garden and the light that drenches the loft area through the glass walls. It is actually the only venue we looked at, we knew it was “the one” immediately. Even though our wedding was in April, we were determined to have an outdoor ceremony to match our original idea of a beach wedding. Luckily, the Chicago weather gods smiled upon us and it was a perfect 80 degree day! Our main goal for the day was that the ceremony and reception be a true representation of us and our love for one another. We kept traditions that felt meaningful to us, while scrapping those that didn’t feel right. CJ’s best friend was ordained just to marry us, which was the most incredible gift. He made the day so genuinely us, and so special. We had a small wedding party; just a maid of honor (my sister) a best man (CJ’s brother) and a flower girl (our adorable niece). The wedding was held on a Sunday, but still SO many of our friends and family came with their love and support…and dancing shoes! Seriously, the dance floor was never empty! And a huge group of us even went to a rooftop to continue the party after! We truly never felt stressed throughout the day or the entire planning process for that matter. We had the best team working with us! Plus, we were just so excited to be marrying each other! So far, we don’t look back and wish we’d done anything any other way. We didn’t see one another the entire day until the moment I walked down the aisle, which we thought was pretty special. We’ll definitely remember that moment forever."

Wedding Date: April 24, 2016

Favorite memory:

Cara- We wrote our own vows and kept them entirely to ourselves until the moment we said them during the ceremony. We never practiced them together or gave one another hints. All I knew was I would write 8 and he would write 8 and then we’d take turns reading one at a time to each other. Many of our vows ended up being so similar, it was amazing! We made each other laugh, cry, and pinky swear…I still get butterflies when I think about it.

CJ- I think one of my favorite moments was just having everyone we love and care about all in one place to celebrate US dedicating and proclaiming our love to each other in our own unique way.  We went and did things how we wanted, throwing tradition out the window, and it all worked out great!!!  From having Adam as the minister to not leaving the premise for pictures to writing our own vows.  I'll still never forget seeing Cara for the first time on an 80 degree April Chicago day outside just like we always wanted with the sun shining and her looking as radiant and as beautiful as ever.  It was the best day!!

Our wedding day was absolutely perfect! The girls met up at Starship Salon for coffee and curls before heading back to our condo in the South Loop to get ready. The boys enjoyed hot shaves and a hot brunch in Logan Square at the Longman & Eagle restaurant and hotel. A few hours before the ceremony, we had our first look at Clarke House, Chicago's oldest house, just steps from our home for the last five years. We read each others' letters and giggled that the day was finally here!

It was so much fun taking pictures around the park and at the planetarium since even though it was technically the first weekend of Fall, it felt like the last weekend of Summer. Jamie from GHL had such great ideas for our group shots to keep them fun and interesting. I especially love how she was able to capture our bold and bright color scheme on this hazy Chicago day.

Just before the ceremony we found out that there was an heirloom family veil on site. We rushed to get it attached as our guests were taking their seats. RJ's grandfather officiated our wedding and did an amazing job juggling humour, love, and three Metra trains passing by! Surprisingly our bearded collie flower girl was well behaved and even laid down during the ceremony.

Just after we were announced as a Mr. and Mrs. we spent a few moments alone signing our marriage license, spilling a cocktail, and taking some newlywed portraits. It was a nice time to get those must-have family photos in while most of the guests enjoyed their first drink. We still had time to enjoy a cocktail in the garden though before our entrance into the reception space.

Everyone enjoyed the toasts and unique Latin-inspired menu from Food for Thought and it kept getting better with four different pies à la mode from Hoosier Mama, a late night coffee stand, and empanadas served to the dance floor. It must have been the food that kept both the photo booth and dance floor fully operational all night.   - Joanna and RJ

Emily & Frank's Wedding

We love when couples choose to spend time taking photos in their neighborhood!  Emily and Frank did their first look right in front of their house on a sunny September 12th day!  We traveled to the Humbolt Park and the 606 for more inspired photos!  Our favorite part was when we took a small detour over to Bangers and Lace in Wicker Park where these two had their first date!  The wedding party downed a celebratory shot, had some fun photos taken and we were off to the ceremony!  Emily and Frank were so stylish in an easy and laid back way, we loved her flower crown and flow-y gown. For their ceremony they sat in the front row and soaked in the beautiful readings.  After the ceremony a cocktail style reception ensued!  Favorite moment was when Emily's sister and friend got up and surprised them with a small concert of meaningful songs.  There wasn't a dry eye in the loft.  Take a look at the photos below and Emily's take on the day :)

"Getting married should be about celebrating--celebrating life, love, friendship, connection."

013EFheroes.jpg

"From the start, we knew that we wanted to find a space that could hold all the energy and spirit that our friends and family would bring to our celebration, and a space that could offer a similarly vibrant energy in return. Walking into Greenhouse Loft is like walking into a warm embrace that signals the start of something wonderful. Whether during the brightest hour of the morning or the deep darkness of an autumn night, the cozy yet enveloping interior of GHL lures you into its brightness and fills you with joy--all of our guests remarked on the beautiful aesthetics and kept asking, "How did you find this place?""

"Yet, even better than the place are the people who maintain it, who offer friendly, creative, and timely assistance, advice, and support every step of the way. From the minor details to the toughest decisions, the GHL staff were there for us, and so genuinely made us feel that they were invested in making our wedding day perfect."

"Along with the memories in our minds, we have beautiful GHL photographs to share and cherish for years to come. For us, getting married was about celebrating, and about focusing on the deeper reasons for coming together to commit to a life in partnership. GHL understood this, honored this, and did everything they could to take on the tasks of making the day look and feel the way we wanted it to, freeing us up to focus on enjoying each other, our people, and an unforgettable celebration!"

Cheers to you Emily & Frank!

Lauren + Steven's Sneak Peeks!

Winter Wedding Bliss - and just in time for the Holidays! We had so much fun with Lauren + Steve on Saturday, December 5, 2015. It might have been chilly, but with scarfs, stoals, and maybe some whiskey in hand - everyone happily kept each other warm on the bridges of Chicago and at the Cultural Center. A close friend who introduced the two married them in a precious ceremony, followed by dinner by Big Delicious Planet and the dance party music by DJ Harsh!! Here are just a few photos from the day, many more amazing photos of this great group around town, in the Photo Booth, and on the dance floor to come! xoxo

Eden & Brian's Wedding

Eden & Brian's Wedding

Eden and Brian were so much fun to work with.  Thinking back on this sunny day so amazing.  The ladies got ready in a light filled room in the hotel, their dresses ethereal in the sun.  We traveled around the city stopping by Grant Park, the Cancer Survivors Park, and the Chicago Board of Trade, (Where we ran into another bride that Eden knew! What a small city :) The ceremony was beautiful with an ivy backdrop designed by her sister with the help of their florist.  One of our favorite parts of the night was the live music!  Spoken Four played all the hits and more, and had the dance floor packed all night.  This was a brilliantly fun wedding.  Read below of Eden's account of the day!

"As Brian and I have been together for nearly a decade, we had thought about this day many, many times. It has taken many forms: it has been outdoors, indoors, raining, freezing cold, we have had a DJ, we have had a band. Of all of the versions our actual wedding day greatly surpassed our expectations. Between the exquisite coordination from vendors to beautiful hair and makeup, I had never imagined that it could be so flawless. My incredible sister and matron of honored doubled as our wedding planner, and her talents as an interior architect and designer were greatly appreciated and needed. My life greatly revolves around my work, and Brian’s not exactly a wedding planning sort of guy. Her idea for the ivy hanging behind us during the ceremony is still one of my favorite parts of the entire room. We also had help from a bridesmaid, who owns a custom bakery, with an incredible array of miniature sweets so that no one would be interrupted from their dancing and could take a sugar cookie right up to the dance floor. "

"We were slightly non-traditional in a few ways. I still tear up when I think about our ceremony, performed by the groom’s uncle, and how we were able to create such a meaningful moment without being in a religious venue. Religion has never been central to our relationship and the appeal of one location encouraged us to choose both wedding ceremony and reception at the Greenhouse Loft and I could not be happier with that decision. Crying happens to be a genetic trait in my family and the decision to have our first look privately meant that I could cry hysterically and only my groom and the photographers would really see it... and the makeup artists was still upstairs to fix any mess I made."

"Our first dance was also non-traditional as it was a rock song. The moment that this song represents has profound significance in our relationship and was in many ways the moment that we fell in love. We were lucky enough to find a string quartet version of the song, and the lyrics were printed on the back of each menu. My last non-traditional aspect was the mismatched bridesmaid dresses. In addition to having many different body types to dress, I desperately wanted the bridesmaids to have dresses they could wear to another event. People warned me of this and that it would look messy, but I am thrilled to say that while it may have been a bit of extra work, the outcome was an ethereal color palate and each bridesmaid was stunning, and loved her dress. "

"One highlight for me was the father-daughter dance. I had surprised my father and did not tell him the song, which was an old-school country song that he would dance with me to when I was very young; it is one of my oldest memories. I have never seen my father cry until that day, and it was such a beautiful moment. We then switched up the couples and I danced with my new father-in-law, who I have known for so many years. During the groom’s dance with his mother we also did a switch up, and while Brian danced with my mother, my mother-in-law found my little brother and danced with him. It was perfect."

"Our greatest concern was the happiness of our guests. Our priorities were delicious, decadent food, varieties of desserts, never-ending alcohol, and hours upon hours of dancing. At end of the evening these were some complimentary points that guests brought up to us, making us feel that it was a success. Our guests were ready to party in every sense of the word, from the first song the band played until the last, we were so thankful for the infectious energy on the dance floor. And beyond that, we were overwhelmed by the love in the loft space that night. It was all above and beyond any emotion we had anticipated. Thank you to everyone who made our day more perfect than we had imagined, and certainly more fun! "

Jessica & Taylor

Jessica & Taylor

Jessica and Taylor married on June 27, 2015, it was a bright blue sky afternoon.  So much fun doing first looks right downtown amongst the hustle and bustle of Michigan Ave. This laid back and fun couple were a joy to spend the day with.  I loved reading their write up, and how they fell in love with space, so amazing to hear that people connect with Greenhouse Loft, and we are always honored when people choose to spend one of the most special days here, and have us photograph the magic.  Speaking of magic - Make sure you scroll all the way down to see the magic that was happening on the dance floor that night!!  Thank you again to the couple, their kind family and friends, and all the vendors that brought their best!  xo

"After the late October 2013 proposal, I constantly heckled Taylor about his timing: how were we supposed to plan a summer wedding with less than a year of planning?! At the time, we were living in Seattle & agreed to have our wedding in Chicago, closer to where I grew up. Given the distance, I spent countless hours perusing the internet to find a venue that inspired me. I came across Greenhouse Loft early in my search and it immediately became the frontrunner. I have always been enamored with Chicago architecture so I knew I wanted a loft space reflecting this ideal. Unfortunately, my heart was nearly broken when I realized how limited the availability for 2014 was. During a trip back home for the holidays, I visited my top three loft prospects in person. In a very cliché Goldilocks way: one was too boring ($5000 in "draping" to dress up the walls?), one was too much maintenance (I have to bring my own toilet paper and hand soap?!), and the final one was just perfect. Unlike my other two tours, I could tell the Greenhouse Loft group held the space very near and dear to their hearts. I looked to my mom, the one person whose opinion I always value, and could tell she felt the same comforting vibe I did. I mean, no one wants a mid-wedding toilet paper crisis! It was worth postponing our marriage a year. "

"It rained the entire week leading up to our wedding day. Taylor & I were checking the weather forecast like clockwork: one day it would say sunny with no chance of rain [!], the next would predict a torrential downpour. The pessimist in me was convinced our beloved urban courtyard would just be a mirage come Saturday. To our luck, it was quite possibly the most perfect forecast you could expect from a summer day in the city. Phew. Jamie met up with the ladies at our hotel as Eric started taking photos of the men. For logistical ease, we chose to do all of our first look/wedding party photos before the ceremony. It was much easier to suppress the miniature bridezilla in me knowing Jamie and Eric had seamless communication with each other and could effectively navigate our way to Lincoln Park and the loft. Better yet, Jamie understood that my vague direction of, "I really like that honeycomb thing on your website" actually meant, "please take us to Lincoln Park for pictures"! I cannot stress enough how grateful I was to know the two of them had everything handled. It truly allowed us to enjoy the time spent alone with our bridal party."

"Our ceremony was officiated by my sister-in-law's father and we were surrounded by our closest friends and family. Two minutes before the start, I impulsively decided to have the wedding party walk out to a string version of David Guetta's "Titanium". While one of us was laughing down the aisle as the other nearly shed a tear (sorry, Taylor!), the tables were turned during the reception. After my stellar no-tears ceremony performance, I confidently agreed to take the first speech. I stood up, took a look around, and immediately realized that 110/120 of our guests traveled hundreds, if not thousands, of miles to attend our wedding. Literally ten of our guests actually live in the state of Illinois. I tried my best to make a joke...and then my joke became tears and a lot of mumbling. To see everyone you are close to, all in one room to celebrate the two of you, is the most surreal feeling one could imagine. Taylor knows how confusing I find the usage of "humbling", but honestly, that is the only way I could describe it."

"More speeches were given (all in a more eloquent manner than mine) and we proceeded to drink and feast. We will skip over the part where Taylor tried to shove cake in my face (if he thought this was something I'd actually enjoy, our marriage is probably doomed!). We shared our first dance together and continued the festivities through the night. Our DJ was spot on with our numerous requests ("Taylor cannot stand Outkast"/"There is no such thing as too much Pitbull") and really kept the party going strong. Looking back, I know Taylor is secretly pleased I won our endless battle-of-the-youngest-children argument over whether or not to include the Ultimate Photobooth. Steve completely nailed it - we ended up with very priceless photos and it continually gave our guests a fun break from the dance floor. Overall, everything just felt so lighthearted!"

"I could not have imagined a more perfect day, venue, guest list, or husband (ha!). I realized how important it was to have vendors who truly take pride in what they do. I started to feel so silly when I thought about how much anxiety went into planning those 12 hours. How could so much stress result in something so effortless? The outcome was just stunning. The architectural elements within the loft, the beautiful urban courtyard, and the subtle tealights were everything we could have hoped for. Both of us concluded that all of the small planning frustrations we (mostly me, Taylor is annoyingly cheery and optimistic all the time) had were completely unnecessary. I was constantly afraid of outsourcing tasks to other people in fear of losing my ability to control the final output. In the process, I realized it is entirely possible to curate an all-star list of vendors while still adding an ample amount of your own personal influence. In the end, it is all about celebrating your new life together with your loved ones. So, thank you to our friends, family, and vendors for making the day one we will never forget!"

Thanks to the vendors who helped put together an awesome celebration!

Laurie & Billy

Laurie & Billy

It was a brisk June 19th, but everyone kept warm and cozy as we traveled through the city in a bus stopping and taking photos at the epic Olive Park, with beautiful panoramic views of the city along the lake.  The day had added joy with all the little ones joining us the whole day.  We even visited a local firehouse, since Billy is also a Chicago fire fighter.  It was such a fun ceremony with a  cocktail style reception that followed with live music all at Greenhouse Loft!  Enjoy Laurie's memories of the wedding and our favorite photos we were so honored to take!

"Billy and I got engaged in December and had our hearts set on a June wedding.  Since we were late to the game, we decided that a Friday wedding was our best option.  We needed a smaller, intimate location that could serve as both the site of our vows and the reception.  Finally the wedding guests included 15 children under the age of twelve, so we needed a safe location that allowed them to enjoy themselves and their parents celebrate without worrying about the kids.  I found Greenhouse Loft’s website and it was perfect.  The calendar allows you to easily check if your date is free.  The pictures and video are fantastic to let you pre-experience the space before visiting.  Billy and I visited the space three days later and booked it immediately!"

"During the morning, I was surrounded by the bridal party getting ready in the suite.  Once Jamie arrived for pictures, the fun (and nerves) started!  Billy and I had our first look on the spiral staircase in the JW Marriott hotel.  The set up was perfect and our family was able to watch.  My nerves instantly went away, and I felt complete...ready to face the day with him."

"Jamie suggested Olive Park for our photos and it couldn’t be a more perfect location.  The weather was a bit chilly, but you couldn’t tell in the photos!  The family shots and couple photos were great with the city in the background.  The nephews were playing around and got some great pictures with Navy Pier in the background!  At our 2nd location, we choose a historic firehouse as a nod to Billy’s profession.  The fireman pulled the engine out and were really accommodating.  While my husband ran to the restroom, I took pictures with the fireman wearing a the official hat.  It was priceless to see Billy’s face when we got the pictures!"

"Our officiant, Anita Vaughan, was fantastic.  She customized the wedding to our personal story and made it funny and special.  We got married outside surrounded by family and friends.  I just remember feeling calm, relaxed and taking in every moment."

"From the cake cutting to the first dance, the night was perfectly timed and flew by.  We loved seeing everyone enjoy themselves and be able to let loose ourselves.  Our guests raved about the food and band.  We felt lucky enough to have a small wedding and really enjoy our guests, spending time with everyone."

"We loved all of our vendors!  Once you find the vendor you want to work with, I highly recommend giving them range to make recommendations and decisions.  I don’t assume to know the perfect flowers for June, best locations for photos, music that everyone will love, etc.  My wedding truly came together when I let the professionals do what they do best.  Our flowers were gorgeous beyond my imagination!  The photos turned out fabulous and unique!  Our ceremony and reception music was fantastic!!  I didn’t worry about a thing on my wedding day, as Greenhouse orchestrated with my vendors beautifully.  I highly recommend using their recommended vendors…they are top notch, know the space, and have a relationship with the Greenhouse staff.  Make the day hassle free!"

Yamini & Mark's Vibrant Celebration

We are so excited to share Yamini and Mark's photos from their June 20th wedding!  Full of beautiful details, vibrant colors, a dramatic weather turn, flower petals abound, two ceremonies, delicious food, and an epic dance party!  We loved these two and their contagious smiles.  Enjoy some of the highlights of the day and their take on the celebration!

"Our wedding day was filled with love, color, and two wedding ceremonies! It was the perfect way to celebrate the love that Mark and I have for each other and we were blessed to be able to share it with our amazing families and friends."

"The weekend started with a traditional Indian mehndi celebration where the bride, her bridesmaids, and the women nearest and dearest to her gathered to have their hands decorated with henna.  The common belief is the darker the henna is on the bride's hand, the more she will be loved by her husband."

"Saturday, June 20th began as a picture perfect day. The bride and her bridesmaids could not wait for hair and make-up to begin.  Dawn from Edit Faces provided flawless make-up and Jennifer from Mario Tricoci created beautiful up-dos for me, my mother, and the bridesmaids.  Saris were donned by all and I wore a magenta and gold lehenga.  The men wore classic tuxedos, provided and fitted by Tom Ventura at Black Tie Formalwear and started their day with a shoe shine at Nordstrom’s iconic Michigan Avenue location."

"Mark and I shared our memorable first look atop the Dana Hotel and proceeded to travel around town with our wedding party taking stunning pictures at the murals on Hubbard St. as well as a factory in the West Loop.  Jamie and Eric knew exactly what shots to take and made the wedding party look amazing."

"When we arrived at Greenhouse Loft, it was time for our Indian ceremony to begin.  The hour long ceremony took place in the courtyard, under the mandap and included many rituals, such as Saptapadi, in which the couple takes seven steps together, symbolizing an unspoken vow.  It was a welcome surprise for the bride to hear her soon to be husband recite the ancient Sanskrit language with stunning accuracy!  Family and friends participated by showering the couple with flowers and providing blessing for the marriage.  The Gods were definitely smiling down on the happy couple, for just as the ceremony ended and the couple exited, the heavens opened up and showered down on the guests."

"After a wardrobe change for the bride, mothers, and bridesmaids, and a delicious hour of cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, the second ceremony began.
Officiated by Andrew Kopf, a dear friend of the groom, this ceremony included an exchanging of vows and rings.  Soon after, the (twice) married couple was whisked away to the photobooth for pictures with family and the wedding party."

"The reception followed, with a fusion Indian/American plated dinner from Hearty Boys, gorgeous floral and candle centerpieces by Pollen, and delicious cupcakes from Sweet Mandy B's.  After speeches by the father of the bride, the matron of honor and the best man, the bride and groom took to the dance floor for their first dance and did not leave it thanks to the amazing music courtesy of Tyler from Cage and Aquarium.  Tyler kept the hits going and the wedding guests had a hard time leaving the packed dance floor, but managed to squeeze in lots of fun in the Ultimate Photobooth with Steve."

Looking back, we could not have had a more amazing day.  We felt so much love from our guests and were privileged to have the most dedicated team of vendors.

Amanda & Antonio's Colorful June Wedding

Amanda and Armando were our first wedding in June, it was exciting and really felt like the first summer wedding!  It was also our first outdoor wedding of the season, a beautiful June 6th evening.  Armando and Amanda met in high school, so the wedding was full of old friends that knew these two since they were really young.  The wedding was officiated by two very special people in Amanda's life, everything was so personal and touching.  Please see below for this vibrant colorful day.  Congratulations again to Amanda and Armando!  xox

"Our wedding day was wonderful from start to finish. My bridesmaids and I had our makeup and hair done at the home of a family friend, while the guys prepared for the day at our home. Although it was chilly for June, you would never know from the pictures, thanks to the sun and the clear blue sky. The photography was the most important feature of the day, the first look was in the neighbors enchanted garden, next stop was the Lurie Garden at Millennium Park, and then the at Kinzie Bridge. Final stop was at GHL to get married. To give our ceremony that personal touch we wanted, we had the service performed by my godmothers and had our dog be part of our ceremony as the flower girl. But the best part was marring my best friend and high school sweetheart!"

"The GHL space was set up beautifully for the reception and exactly as I had planned, a perfect way to end the day with delicious food, memorable traditions, awesome music & dancing, amazing cupcakes, ridiculousness in the photo booth and the excitement of having all of our family and friends in one room."

"Thank you to all my vendors and the careful planning of the GHL staff for making the day run smoothly.  And a special thanks to GHL photography for the beautiful photographs, I couldn’t have ask for anything more, such a specially way to remember June 6th, 2015!"

Andrew & Fernando's Sunday Dance Party Wedding

We truly looked forward to Andrew and Fernando's (aka Drew and Sergio's!) wedding day for months! From the very first showing, we all knew this was going to be a very energetic, loving, and special celebration.  Who would have thought that May 31st, 2015 would be chilly, but it was, a little bit - Did that stop these guys and their friends and family from having the best day ever? Nope!  "Sunday Funday" was the theme, and fun was an understatement.  We have never seen a dance floor so packed and full of life during the daylight hours as we did that Sunday!  There's no better way to hear about their day than from the couple themselves, so please enjoy the photos along with their memories. Thank you Sergio and Drew for letting us be part of it!

------------

"It’s true, you’ll just know. The moment we walked through the doors we knew we would be getting married at Greenhouse Loft. We recycle but we wouldn’t call ourselves conservationists and never heard of a green wedding until we found Greenhouse Loft. The space was perfect for our wedding of 125 guests. Our late spring wedding had several themes; “Hipster Chic”, “Urban Spring” and most importantly a “Sunday Funday Wedding” Up for the challenge we recruited Lynn of Pollen, Christen from Big Delicious Planet and DJ Kate from Toast and Jam; all of which we found listed on the GHL vendor list.”

“One of the fun parts of planning for a wedding is shopping for a caterer. Big Delicious Planet is a caterer who buys their food from local farmers and even have a large garden on†site. Christen was very friendly,  great to work with and her suggested macaroni bar was a smash hit. They also made our desired naked wedding cake that Lynn from Pollen accented with flowers. The combination made for a very beautiful collaboration. Bonus again, BDP donated all our leftover food to a local pantry. Another small victory for the day knowing nothing was going to waste.”

"Lynn far surpassed any expectations we thought we had. We shared our Pinterest page with her to give her an idea of our aesthetic and then got out of her way and let her do her thing. Her arrangements were so sophisticated, vibrant and lush. I was originally concerned that a “green wedding” meant a lot of twigs and dried flowers, but it was quite the opposite in that she captured the essence of a spring garden while using locally source flowers. The bonus is knowing that all the beautiful flowers do not get thrown away at the end of our big day. Pollen donates all the flowers to a local nursing home. A perfect way to brighten someone else's day."

“Toast and Jam matched us with Kate. We cannot say enough good things about her. Her song choices keep the crowd up and dancing. Aside from her talented DJing, her MC skills were on point when it came time to cut the cake, first dance and setting the tempo for the entire day. She played every song we requested and took the time to get to know our Spotify playlists to play some obscure ones to bring the house down!”

“The superheroes of the “Green Team” goes out to the entire GHL staff. It was an amazing and beyond easy experience working with them to plan our big day. Though we planned the entire day ourselves, the onsite staff and Jamie made any worries of not having a wedding planner disappear with ease. They made sure the entire day ran smoothly. I cannot imagine having had anyone else shoot our wedding day than Jamie herself and her husband Eric! It was effortless working with them and their pictures wonderfully captured the magic of the day. The more and more we look at them we constantly find new gems and details only their lens’ were able to capture. We also purchased the photo booth package. We hands down recommend it. Actually, you would be a fool to have your event here and not take advantage of the amazing styling and moments that Steve captures on film. The photos from the booth alone make for a great coffee table book. Together the GHL teams has given us so many priceless moments to cherish for years.”

Cheers!

Susan & Patrick's Winter Wonderland Wedding

December 13th was anything but cold and chilly!  The theme of Susan and Patrick's wedding was, "Winter Wonderland" - the decor and even Susan's bouquet matched the theme perfectly, the weather was unusually warm for a December date, but it made taking photos outside so much fun!  We loved shooting the first look in Patrick's childhood home on the Northwest side of Chicago, then traveling to a friends house who had decorated it beautifully for the holidays.  A very sweet couple and a very fun party ensued into the night!  Congratulations again Susan and Patrick.  Read more below and see some of our favorite photos from the day.

"It was a great day - who knew a Winter Wonderland Wedding would have temps in the upper 40's? There were many fun surprises that day - from our first look to how the room was decorated at GHL. We had an idea of it, but to walk in and see it was so amazing. The day is almost hard to describe - we would love to go back in time and be a guest at our wedding to get to see and experience everything because we felt that it just flew by. We had some of the food and think that we saw everyone - but we just cannot remember everything."

“What we do remember is that the ceremony my uncle wrote was beautiful. The crowd was all looking at us and you could see in there faces that they were enjoying everything. I think that in every picture we were smiling ear to ear. The food that we got to eat was delicious and the drinks and signature cocktails were SWEET. From sushi to Penguin cookies, it was awesome.”

"We did our wedding our way. This was not a traditional experience by any means, and that suited us well, as we do not see ourselves as being all that traditional either. We wanted a night that we would have enjoyed and that is what we gave to everyone. So far, the feedback has been great, and we look forward to really going through all of the pictures and reliving that evening again and again."

"Thanks to the staff at GHL. You were all great to work with and we appreciate all of the efforts that you put in to take and make our pictures. From the candids to the photobooth, we will have a beautiful record of our wedding. Thank you."

Melissa + Taylor

Melissa and Taylor were such a kind and loving couple to work with!  The details of their July 11th wedding were planned out perfectly.   Even when it sprinkled the day of their wedding they walked into the space glowing and smiling taking it all in stride and enjoying every moment.  We were so happy they chose to have their family and friends enjoy the Ultimate Photobooth!   See below for some of their favorite shots and their thoughts on the day!

"Melissa and I are both Chicago transplants within the last several years, but have quickly come to love this city and call Chicago our home.  We both grew up in different parts of the country and have family and friends from both coasts, and frankly, all over the world.  Given we knew we would have so many out of town guests, we knew we wanted our wedding to be a reflection of our home, but also of us.  Greenhouse Loft provided the perfect canvas to showcase the best of both.  In fact, it was a very quick decision for us.  I proposed to Melissa on the last night of our winter vacation, we flew home the next day (Sunday), and by the following Monday, we had toured and booked the venue!"

"Jamie at GHL and our event vendors (Christen at Big Delicious Planet - Catering and Megan at Pistil & Vine - Florist) did an incredible job arranging the space for our wedding.  Melissa and I have a style that’s best described—in the word’s of Melissa—as “simple but striking.”  The clean lines of GHL with the incredibly beautiful arrangements by Megan created an atmosphere that countless guests acknowledged as being the best wedding venue they have ever visited.  A few of our guests are now on a mission to actually recreate the floral centerpieces!  The combination of our personalized ceremony officiated by Rev. Bruce Otto, the delicious food and drinks provided by Big Delicious Planet and the eclectic music by Emily from Toast & Jam created an experience that our guests continue to rave about.  The wedding was truly a whirlwind, and we can’t wait to see the photos and video from Victoria Sprung and Mike Hendzel’s amazing teams to revisit all of the details. Steve’s Ultimate Photo Booth was a huge hit, and was a real bonus for our family and friends.  Steve's portraits are really tremendous, and we are so glad we were able to have someone as talented as him at the wedding."

"Melissa and I set out to create a timeless event that captured the best of us and the best of our home, and without a doubt, the team at Greenhouse Loft and our team of vendors accomplished that goal."

"P.S. One of the main reasons we chose GHL was the ability to have an outdoor wedding and cocktail reception on site.  Unfortunately, we had a bit of rain on our wedding day, forcing us to move the ceremony indoors.  While we had a lot of trepidation about this happening, we were amazed with how beautiful the space was inside for the ceremony and how seamless the event was moving from ceremony, cocktail reception to dinner and dancing.  In fact, it was in a way fortunate as (1) it’s good luck if it rains on your wedding day and (2) it was so hot outside that I believe everyone appreciated the air conditioning!"

We hope you enjoy Melissa and Taylor's portraits as much as we loved having them at Greenhouse Loft! Thanks to our awesome vendors for a great evening!
